IOANNIS tSIROS
Psychologist-Psychotherapist

About Me
I am a Greek licensed psychologist with postgraduate training in Counseling and Psychotherapy (MSc). I completed my studies in Psychology with academic distinction at the American College of Greece and the Open University (United Kingdom). In the past I have received a trainer΄s training in Neurolinguistic Programming (ΝLP). I have a private practice in Athens Greece and I offer my services on a regular basis to adult individuals.
Apart from face-to-face sessions, I offer counselling and psychotherapy online, also in English. In addition to my private practice, I offer my services to different organisations, like the Counselling Centre of the American College of Greece and the Municipality Clinic of Athens. I have also attended programs in several clinical settings. I have experience with clients with a wide range of issues such as addictions, anxiety and stress, depression, family relations, violence, grief, identity, crises, trauma, and food disorders.
In addition, as a researcher, I have participated in several international conferences and workshops and have presented my own research studies. I believe in continuous training and development, which is why I like to keep up to date with the latest developments in the fields of interest that are relevant to my work.

About my practice
Reaching out for help is the first step for change.
My role is to provide you with a trusting, non-judgemental and safe space in order to explore your emotions and difficulties by expressing your thoughts and feelings.
I believe in the creation of a close and authentic therapeutic bond between me and my clients in order to build together a tharapeutic alliance which is the key to any real change.
I do this in different ways by using the techniques that I have learned , selecting the one that best suits your case in your journey.
Practice Description
I am in a position to cooperate together with people from different backgrounds that are facing multiple challenges. My approach is based on the hypothesis that in order to fully understand an emotional or personal challenge, beyond conceptualising the client as an individual, it is necessary to understand the wider framework that they have been placed into and focus on the important close relationships in their lives.
Even if my main theoretical approach and training is Humanistic, Existential and Phenomenological, I often use an integrative approach, taking into account my clients' needs.
Parts of my training consist of Person-centered, Psychoanalytic-Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioral approaches.
The goal of my work is to reframe things differently, to follow novel paths and consider the limitations of the client as resources, expanding their vision and transending their beliefs.
